Description

We are pleased to announce that the Sportway Lago Maggiore Marathon, whose tenth edition will be held next November 7, has obtained the ISO 20121 certification for the sustainable management of the Lake Maggiore Marathon thanks to the project Interreg AMALAKE - Amazing Maggiore: Active Holiday on the Lake Maggiore.

The event, of great interest for the tourism sector, as well as for the sporting one, has always attracted many runners to the shores of our lake. This has always required a strong attention to the environment. The important work that the organization of the race has done since 2008 (year of the foundation of the race) to date, has resulted in the study LOCOM conferring the certification mentioned above. The recognition was granted thanks to the contribution of the Project "AMALAKE - Amazing Maggiore: Active Holiday on the Lake Maggiore", within the Cooperation Program Interreg V-A Italy Switzerland 2014-2020 of which the Chamber of Commerce of Monte Rosa Laghi Alto Piemonte is the leader of the Italian part of the project.

The awarding of the certification is also linked to the evaluation of other aspects: economic impact, the ability to create direct value for the local realities involved and indirect value for the promotion of the territory, an aspect that includes the use of local resources at km 0 and, therefore, a reduction of transport; social impact, the promotion of sport as a lifestyle and a tool for psychophysical well-being, a positive influence on the health sector in addition to the possibility of involving charities for the support of associations; environmental impact, with the aim of reducing negative behaviours and optimize positive ones for the environment.
