Programme

A new event from Lakescapes, il Teatro Diffuso del Lago, Saturday 9th July in Baveno.

At 9 pm in front of the church, the Accademia dei Folli will present Picasàs, a show in which pink granite extracted from the quarries of the Vergante area will lead the audience on a compelling journey composed of ancient stories, far away destinations, sounds and noises.

Picasàs tells of an epic story that starts on the shores of Lake Maggiore and extends along the pathways and waterways crossed by pink granite over the centuries. It all begins with the ancient sound of a horn reverberating in the quarry. Then the explosion of a charge, the roar of the mountain crumbling, the blows of the stone cutters – known as the picasàs – who carve out the rock with every strike of their sharp tools. The shape that the pink granite is turned into – column, arch, slab or pedestal – determines the nature of the last sound. It may be the acute notes of a soprano in Paris, the sound of water rushing from a fountain in Rome, the noise of the Columbus Day Parade in New York, the sound of a horse’s hooves in Latin America or the rustle of the saffron coloured robes of a Buddhist monk in Bangkok.

Entry costs €13.00, but a discount of €3.00 is available on presentation of a voucher that can be downloaded from the website www.accademiadeifolli.com
