The Ecomuseum of Simplon is widespread on an area formed by the presence of the Via Stockalper Route (Stockalperweg) and includes 5 museums:
Stockalper Castle in Brig, one of the most beautiful examples of the Baroque style in Switzerland, dominated by three massive towers surmounted with golden domes that pay homage to the Three Kings ;
Alter Gasthof in Simplon Dorf, headquarters of the Ecomuseum Foundation and of a collection of exhibition of the material local culture;
The Napoleonic Alter Kaserne, where a series of panels show the story of the roads through the Simplon;
Fort and the Military Museum from the XXth Century in the Gorge of Gondo;
Gold Museum of Gondo, settled in the tower where were housed the workers of the mines in the XIXth Century.
Finally the mines themselves can still be explored on foot for about 120 meters only if accompanied by expert guides.

Calendar - Timetables Except for Stockalper Castle in Brig, open from May to the end of October, the other museums are open according to the summer calendar. In winter it is possible to visit by groups and on reservation the Alter Gasthof and the Military Museum in the Fort of Gondo’s Gorges. The temporary exhibition in the Alte Kaserne and the Tower of Gondo can always be freely visited.
