A musical hot-line links the charming town of Ascona with the American city of New Orleans for ten days of music. The town of Ascona on Lake Maggiore has been hosting performances by top international jazzmen at the Jazz festival for over twenty years now.

In two decades of existence, the Ascona festival has attracted many of the legendary names of New Orleans jazz as well as hot jazzmen from Europe and America. Every year the programme includes 200 concerts for over 400 hours of live music, ranging from traditional New Orleans jazz to Chicago jazz, swing, mainstream, ragtime and gospel, with excursions into blues, R&B, soul, Latin and funk.

Solo artists and bands perform in bars, restaurants and hotels by day and on lakeside stages in the evening, transforming Ascona into a jigsaw of miniature jazz clubs, animated by great feeling between the musicians and a public of discerning fans.
