How to get
From Bellinzona, take A13 to Locarno. From Stresa, take A-road no. 33 going in the direction of Fondotoce, then A-road no. 34 to Cannobio. Go past the border and take 13 to Locarno. When you reach the Piazza Castello roundabout in Locarno, park in the multistorey car park and go to the castle by foot.
About
Locarno’s Archaeological Museum is internationally famous for its extensive collection of Roman glassware.
The collection has been built up since the beginning of the century from finds unearthed by archaeological research in the Locarno region.
The 2 entire rooms of the glassware collection are complemented by another 5 rooms dedicated to collections covering the prehistoric period (13th to 1st centuries BC) in the Locarno area, Romanic art (11th to 12th century AD), Apulian vases (8th to 5th centuries BC) and coins donated to the town of Locarno by Carlo Rossi and Athos Moretti.
