By car: A26 motorway to Gravellona Toce, then SS33 Sempione, after Domodossola take the exit for Val Vigezzo - Masera.

General Description:    

Excursion on beautiful paved mule tracks where you will discover ancient rural villages with wonderful examples of stone architecture.

The route:    

Leaving from Pontetto di Masera hamlet and following the signs for trail A04 you will go up on nice mule tracks up to Roldo, then turn for trail L00 to Vignamaggiore that continues along the upper valley of Isorno river. Pass by Parè’s alpine huts and Crosetta Chapel until you cross the road and continue for Naviledo, where you’ll see magnificient examples of stone architecture. You will walk through the whole village and up to the hillside you’ll reach the Basini Chapel and immediately after the beautiful paved mule track through the haipin road you will soon arrive to Altoggio. At the entrance of the village, take again for trail A04 going down to Piccioledo and the Cappella delle Grazie to finally reach the Montecrestese’s Church. Cross the village’s square where you’ll reach the cemetery where you’ll take a mule track going up to Cardone and then down to Roldo where you’ll go back on the itinerary  made uphill that you will follow up to Pontetto.
