Friday, August 30th: Orta Lake
late morning arrival at one the most romantic Italian lakes: Orta Lake. The town of Orta San Giulio will charm you with its historical beauty, ancient houses decorated with frescoes and narrow medieval alleys. We suggest you to get lunch in one of the many good restaurants of the centre and in the afternoon you can catch a motorboat to reach the “isola di San Giulio” (St. Giulio island), a very small island with a magnificent church and a peaceful nunnery. After your return in Orta San Giulio if you want to have a walk, you can walk up to the Sacred Mount, where 21 chapels show St. Francis's life. Late afternoon arrival in Stresa for the check-in in hotel. In the evening you can't miss a gourmet dinner in a restaurant of Stresa or around, to taste regional flavors! Overnight in hotel.
Saturday, August 31st: Borromeo Islands
after a good breakfast in hotel, you will be ready to start a pleasant day on the Borromeo Islands. Departure by motorboat to reach the first stop: the "isola Bella" (Beautiful Island) with its fabulous baroque palace and Italian style gardens with ten terraces over the lake. Around lunch time the excursion continues on the "isola Superiore dei Pescatori" (Fishermen’s Island). Its name comes from the main activity of its inhabitants, we suggest you to visit the small church and also a pleasant walk to discover its medieval charm and its characteristic narrow alleys. Lunch in a typical restaurant of the island and in the afternoon visit of the third island, the "isola Madre" (Mother Island). His particular botanical garden is famous for the flowering of camellias, rhododendrons, azaleas as well as wisterias. Evening free for a walk on along lake waterfront...
Sunday, September 1st: Stresa Offshore 2013
breakfast and hotel check-out. After that we suggest you to reach the elegant lake waterfront promenade of Stresa to enjoy the Italy Grand Prix of Xcat World Championship - Offshore 2013, which will take place in front of Stresa on Sunday, September 1st after some trials during the previous two days. Unique opportunity to admire these special boats able to reach a top speed of 190 kilometers per hour and whiz in the beautiful Borromeo Gulf of Lake Maggiore. Free day to enjoy this unique sporting spectacle for the wonderful landscape in which it takes place.
