Two days by mountain bike, immersed in nature and exploring the Ticino park in an eco-friendly manner. One of the park’s environmental guides will help you to learn about the “three dimensions of the area”. Not forgetting moments of relaxation and opportunities to taste the organic products of the park. Suitable for all those who see mountain biking as a sporting activity, but who also wish to explore the area. Requires a minimum level of fitness and reasonable off-road cycling technique. In summary: 124 km in length; 2,850 m of climbing; 65% unsurfaced roads; 96% cyclable.
Day 1: Meet at the hotel in Somma Lombardo. Depart on your guided mountain bike tour.
Stage 1: Somma L. – Somma L.; 56 km, 1,150 m total climbing; 60% off road; 98% cyclable.
In the heart of the Ticino park – Riding along the ancient towpath (the horse ‘railway’, built in 1858 for pulling barges), we’ll reach the former Austro-Hungarian customs point where, if you wish, you can partake in some refreshments tasting the organic and environmentally low-impact products of the “Parco del Ticino” brand. Continue on and we’ll meet an environmental guide who will educate us in the “three-dimensional interpretation of the park”: water, wildlife and nature. Finally, back in the saddle to face a crescendo of difficulty on the unpaved ramps, singletrack and sections of local mountain bike marathon routes that await us in the woods. Evening free to dine at your own convenience.
Day 2: Guided mountain bike tour.
Stage 2: Somma L. – Somma L., 68 km in length; 1,700 m of climbing; 70% off road; 95% cyclable.
We ride athletically in and out of the Ticino Park in a continuation of ups and downs, discovering challenging dirt roads, winding singletrack, technical descents and panoramic view points from where you can admire the park and surrounding lakes. Not forgetting the more tranquil sections where you can catch your breath and, if you wish, moments of gastronomic delight sampling some of the local dishes. Goodbyes and departures.
