Description

Starting point
The tour starts from the lido of Gavirate, a small town on the shore of Lake Varese.

Main features of the tour
The trip round Lake Varese is almost entirely on surfaced roads and cycle tracks.  Most of the roads are dedicated to cycle traffic; the few roads for all types of traffic are however not busy.

This route is suitable for all, by mountain bike.

The route
From the Lido of Gavirate take the cycle track to the right and go along the lake shore to Biandronno.  You then leave the shore on the only uphill part of the route (a slope of 10% for around 100 mt).

Continue via the outskirts of several villages, enjoying the changing views of the clear water of the lake.  Go on until you arrive in Capolago and then the Schiranna Park.

Cross the park and go up alongside the Provincial Road no. 1, on a dedicated cycle track, and then go back down to the shore at the village of Groppello, home of the Cultural Association “Corte dei Brut”.

Cycle down to the lake side again to return to the lido where you started out. Here there are several bars and restaurants, as well as a large car park.

Useful information
Bus: Varese – Laveno and Varese – Ispra lines.

Refreshment facilities
There are various bars and restaurants in Gavirate, Galliate Lombardo, Capolago, Schiranna and Groppello.
