Main features of the route
This round trip is wholly on surfaced roads along the shores of Lake Maggiore and Lake Mergozzo.  It offers superb views of the beauties of Lake Maggiore and Lake Mergozzo and the surrounding mountains.

The route
Starting from the old Boat Station of Verbania Intra, go north along a level road to the suburb of Trobaso.  You will see the village of Vignone high up on your right, and the village of Miazzina high on the hillside in front of you.

When you get to the square in the centre of Trobaso, cycle down to the roundabout and go straight ahead.  After crossing the bridge over the San Bernardino stream go up round two wide bends to the traffic lights, from where you enter the village of Bieno (San Bernardino Verbano).

Once over the top of the rise at the traffic lights, there is a fairly steep descent between woodlands all the way to the outskirts of Fondoctoce. Turn right before the main road to get to the Casa della Resistenza.  Go straight on along the side of Lake Megozzo; the flat road, lined in places with ancient poplars and white willows, takes you to the picturesque village of Mergozzo, right on the lake shore.

When you have gone through the village turn left onto the road between the River Toce and Montorfano hill; you will arrive at the junction of the road to Gravellona Toce.  Turn left towards Verbania and a ride of 7 km brings you to a large roundabout. Go straight on through Fondotoce, Suna, Pallanza, and back to Intra.

Useful information
There is a bus service from Omegna to Intra and from Intra to Trobaso.

Refreshment facilities
There are many places to eat and drink in Intra, Trobaso, Mergozzo, Fondotoce, Suna and Pallanza.
