Northern Piedmont: The Perfect Destination for Families with Children

Northern Piedmont is an ideal destination for those traveling with children: nature, charming villages, and plenty of activities designed for the whole family.

This area offers many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, with green spaces perfect for easy walks. From the Lagoni di Mercurago Park to the Mergozzo Lake reserves, through the Ossola woods and the gentle Cusio hills, trails are well-marked, accessible, and suitable even for younger children. Some routes also feature picnic areas and scenic viewpoints—perfect spots for a snack with a view.

For an international adventure, hopping aboard the Vigezzina-Centovalli Railway is a magical experience for both kids and adults: the route from Domodossola to Locarno crosses valleys, bridges, and fairy-tale forests.

Some towns are especially suited for family day trips: Orta San Giulio, with its picturesque alleys and boat ride to the Island of San Giulio; Domodossola; Stresa. The Ricetto di Candelo in the Biella area is a medieval village that looks like it stepped out of a storybook.

In summer, Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta offer equipped beaches, canoe rentals, pedal boats, and small electric boats—perfect for safe fun. Families can also enjoy the relaxing spaces of the Premia Thermal Baths, as well as outdoor activities and the Domobianca 365 adventure park.
