WWF Wildlife Oasis of Pian dei Sali

Malesco

The WWF Wildlife Oasis of Pian dei Sali is a beautiful woodland area near Malesco in the Vigezzo Valley.

The plateau occupies one and a half hectares, and is surrounded by dense woods of conifer, deciduous trees, fir and Scots pine; it offers a range of recreational activities and places of interest for nature-lovers, including a nature trail, a high altitude pond and wetland area, a picnic area, a sports field and an area of geological interest.

The most unusual attraction is the so-called human sundial, in which it is one’s own shadow that shows the time marked on the stone.

The range of animals living on the plateau includes ungulates such as roe deer, chamois and red deer, as well as woodpeckers, Eurasian eagle-owls, larks and foxes.

Open from spring to autumn, the oasis is an ideal place to spend an enjoyable day out in the open air with all the family!
