The “Palio dei Castelli” in Castiglione Olona

The “Palio dei Castelli”, the most important historical show of Castiglione Olona, started in 1972.

Every year in spring a historical event of the village is relived all around its roads that become the stage for many actors dressed in historical costume.

A historical parade starts from the centre of the village and arrives at the Monteruzzo Castle; here a court attends the arrival of the “corsa delle botti” (the barrels race) in which all the districts of Castiglione Olona take part. After the prize giving of the winner district there is the final show.
