Landscape, natural, environmental and cultural complex placed in between the Intrasca Valley and Cannobina Valley, in the hinterland of the western shore of Lake Maggiore: a landscape accessible and enjoyable for its richness of itineraries, to follow with a “slow” approach.
This is the main stretch of the “slow panorama” itinerary, a set of paths that combines in perfect greenways for walking or biking, the pre-alpine buttresses overlooking the Lake Maggiore (also called Verbano), the old military constructions of the Cadorna Line, great variety of natural environment.
The mountain buttresses, in progressive elevation to beyond 2000 meters of Mount Zeda, offer the main lookouts over the Lake Maggiore, the lakes of Varese, the Po Valley (and even the Apennines and the Monviso on clearer days), to the rugged topography of the National Park of Val Grande and the large amphitheater of the Southern Alps.
In addition to the possibility to walk the itinerary in the lower altitude range, the network of roads, mule tracks and military roads being part of the Cadorna Line, offer regular slopes and large enough tracks that can be easily done by mountain bike. Another positive aspect is the nearby villages where you can find accommodation or restaurants for the visiting hiker. This allows an attendance of the natural and cultural landscape of “Slow Panorama” to a wider range and heterogeneous users, enhancing routes and places often considered marginal environments. The altitude, even in the highest goals, allows to access the landscape itinerary of Slow Panorama all year long. In case of heavy snowfalls it can be accessed with snowshoeing or practicing mountaineering activities.
