The Potato Festival of Montecrestese has taken place since 1994 with the aim of promoting the gastronomic specialties of the Ossola area, particularly those based on potatoes.
It is held annually at the end of August at the Pontetto sports facilities in Montecrestese, thanks to the work of volunteer groups belonging to various local associations.
The Festival has been the subject of various improvements and innovations over the years, also in the field of sustainability: since 2011, the Ecofesta project has been underway, aiming to reduce the use of plastic and food waste, to make the event more environmentally sustainable. Furthermore, since 2015, zero-km organic potatoes have been used for the preparation of the dishes served at the festival.
