Only 20 minutes from Luino, the Passo della Forcora – Forcora Pass offers ski lift facilities for ski mountaineering and cross-country.
The ski lift takes skiers from the Pass (1,179 metres a.s.l.) to the top of Monte Cadrigna (1,304 metres), from where there is a stunning view over Lake Maggiore and as far as Monte Rosa and the Gotthard Pass.
There are also two nursery slopes with a rope tow and a magic carpet. Experts may like to go off-piste skiing, and anyone can try snowshoeing.
