Lake Viverone, on the border between Biella, Canavese and Vercelli, is the third largest natural lake in Piedmont and is an ideal destination for those seeking nature, relaxation and outdoor sports. Its waters, framed by rolling hills, offer picturesque views in every season: in summer, they become the setting for swimming, sailing and canoeing, while in winter the lake is populated by migratory birds, attracting birdwatchers. The shores are home to walking and cycling trails and tourist resorts that combine hospitality and good food, making it a perfect place for leisure days and rejuvenating stays.
In addition to its natural beauty, Lake Viverone is home to a treasure of inestimable historical value: the pile-dwelling archaeological site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011, part of the series “Prehistoric pile dwellings around the Alps”. The findings bear witness to settlements from the Bronze Age (from 1500 BC), offering a valuable insight into the lives of the communities that inhabited these areas thousands of years ago.
