Grape Festival (Festa dell’Uva)

Masera

The Masera Grape Festival is one of the most anticipated festivals dotting the Ossola summers.

An almost centennial event that every year attracts many visitors not only from the Ossola territories but also from all of Piedmont, Lombardy, and nearby Switzerland.

The event has been held every year since 1925 in early September, the period of the grape harvest and the traditional end of farm work. During these days, the small village comes alive with musical shows, dances and gastronomy, exhibitions, and displays. Among the most anticipated events on the packed calendar are the fireworks display, the traditional allegorical parade, and the donkey race (Palio degli asini).

During the festival, one can taste some of the typical specialties of the Ossola area, including the rustic Pasta e Bajan, which is recognized as DeCO (Denominazione Comunale, Municipal Designation), and grilled specialties such as “mutun à la saü”, which is mutton cooked with a secret recipe sauce.
