In only 5 minutes the ultra-modern cable cars between Orselina and Cardada carry you to an altitude of 1340 metres in the Locarno mountains, from where you can enjoy a breathtaking view over lake Maggiore and the surrounding valleys.
The cars and terminal buildings were jointly designed by Ticino architects Mario Botta and Paolo Pedrazzini. A walking route provides an unforgettable panorama over Lake Maggiore and the nearby valleys. The walk is 1.2 km long and takes you past a series of entertainingly original games. A two-seat chairlift can carry you from Cardada up to Cimetta at 1670 metres, and a 360° panorama from the mountaintop geological observatory.
Five restaurants around Cardada and Cimetta offer a choice of local specialities.
