Bettelmatt 2026 production, an excellence among alpine cheeses, is ready to be enjoyed on the tables of gourmets and lovers of good cheese.
In September, as every year, the branding of Bettelmatt takes place: all the wheels produced during the summer months in the 9 alpine pastures above 2,000 meters altitude, in the high mountains of Val Formazza and Alpe Devero, in Upper Ossola, are fire-branded. This year, approximately 6,500 wheels were produced by the 9 official producers.
This essential operation takes place under the careful analysis of Agenform technicians and the Unione Montana Alta Ossola, which, as the owner entity of the Trademark, has always managed its control and administration to certify the product and its uniqueness.
For those who wish to experience the magic of tradition up close and observe the iconic moment of the hot branding, two public, unmissable events are scheduled in the area:
• September 20th in Crampiolo (Alpe Devero): on the occasion of the traditional Festa dul Scarghè (the festival of the Alpine herdsmen and the Alp).
• October 3rd-4th in Crodo: during the weekend dedicated to the event Biancolatte, l’Oro d’Alta Ossola.
