From 28 November 2026 to 4 April 2027, the galleries of Palazzo Gromo Losa and Palazzo Ferrero, in the historic district of Piazzo in Biella, will host “Divisionism 1900–1930 – The Mark of the Avant-Garde in Italy”, a major exhibition dedicated to one of the most important artistic movements in Italian painting between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
The exhibition, curated by Niccolò D’Agati and Sergio Rebora, will bring together over 150 works from prestigious collections, offering a journey that traces the evolution of Divisionism and its influence on the avant-garde movements of the 20th century.
Among the key figures featured in the exhibition are great masters such as Giovanni Segantini, Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo, Gaetano Previati, Emilio Longoni, Plinio Nomellini, Giacomo Balla, Umberto Boccioni and Carlo Carrà – artists who helped transform the exploration of light and colour into a new expressive language destined to leave its mark on the history of Italian art.
The exhibition itinerary will guide visitors through the origins and development of Divisionism, highlighting how this movement, which emerged in Piedmont and Lombardy in the late 19th century, became the starting point for the artistic experiments that would give rise to the avant-garde movements of the 20th century. Alongside the famous landscapes and naturalistic scenes, the exhibition also explores the social themes and new forms of expression that characterised the artists of the period.
This event marks the fourth major exhibition organised by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Biella, following the success of the exhibitions dedicated to street art, Steve McCurry and Andy Warhol, confirming Biella’s status as a leading cultural destination.
