Lake Maggiore

Here comes the second edition of Il Gusto è a Monte

Nature, sport, taste, history and art are the main ingredients of the 41 itineraries proposed by the initiative Il Gusto è a Monte in order to discover or re-discover the beauty of Verbano Cusio Ossola, Lake Maggiore, and Lake Orta right up to the Ossola Valleys. From June 2009, Il Gusto è a Monte, promoted and organised by the Verbano Cusio Ossola Province, will offer a rich calendar of events to discover the most enchanting areas of these lands.

From 16th of June until October 2009, with Il Gusto è a Monte, it will be possible to get to know and feel a land steeped in culture, tradition, nature and excitement. More than 40 different excursions to discover even the most unusual corners of Verbano Cusio Ossola have been scheduled, in the form of trips and walks suitable for all as well as treks for the sports lovers.

There are two types of itinerary on offer: the more traditional and simple, entitled “Art and Flavours” (25 excursions) which looks at the cultural and artistic tastes of the territory , and “Nature and Sport” (16 excursions), which is more unusual and dynamic.

Both types will cover all of the Verbano Cusio Ossola Valleys including the following: Val Vigezzo, known as Chimney sweep valley, Val Antigorio and Val Formazza, with the Toce falls – one of the greatest falls in Europe (143 meters high) – the enchanting Valle Strona, the peaks of Cusio and Mottarone, the wonderful views of Upper Verbano, where the Cadorna history lies, the wild Val Grande and Intrasca Valleys, Valle Anzasca, with its wealth of history and tradition bosating Monte Rosa and Macugnaga and the Antrona and Bognanco valleys.

And there’s more: as well as the exciting excursions on offer there will also be plenty of opportunities to try the traditional and tasty culinary delights of the valleys: from famous cheese and cold meats to honey and delicious sweets.
