For the fourth year running, the tour destination “Il Lago Maggiore, le sue Valli, i suoi Fiori” (Lake Maggiore, its valleys and its flowers) is taking part in the Tour Natur Trade Fair (now in its 8th year) to be held in Düsseldorf from 3 to 5 September. This is the only trade fair open to the public which is devoted to trekking and hiking, and which for years has attracted a huge number of enthusiasts from Germany and neighbouring countries.
The Fair provides a complete range of information on Germany’s favourite recreational pursuit. Around 40 million German hikers cover a total of over 3.6 billion kilometres every year; 33,500 of them visited the Fair in 2009.
The destination of Lake Maggiore, its valleys and its flowers will be there with its own stand (C16 Pavilion 5) under the title “Lago Maggiore und seine Berge”. The stand will present the range of hiking and cycling itineraries on offer in the Italian and Swiss parts of the lake area, as well as the attractions of the provinces of VCO, Novara and Varese – especially those parts of the provinces close to the lake, the Ossola mountains, Lake Orta, Novara and its hills, Varese – and the Ticino Canton.
The Fair is open to the public from Friday 3 to Sunday 5 September from 10am to 6 pm. The entrance ticket also admits visitors to the “Caravan Salon” , www.caravan-salon.de, the biggest trade fair in the world on Motor home and Caravan holidays – ten pavilions and over 590 exhibitors – which will be held at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre at the same time as Tour Natur, and is open to operators from 28 August. A new departure at the 2010 Caravan Salon is the “Green Caravanning” presentation by the CIVD (Caravanning Industry Association) with information on environmentally friendly travel by motor home and caravan.
The Lake Maggiore destination is now getting ready for the next trade fairs in the calendar – Le Monde à Paris PRO on 21 and 22 October, and the World Travel Market in London from 8 to 11 November.
Lake Maggiore’s presence at these trade fairs is guaranteed thanks to organisation coordinated by the Chamber of Commerce of the VCO, together with the Lake Maggiore Tourist Board, the Verbano Cusio Ossola Province, the Chamber of Commerce of Novara, the Distretto Turistico dei Laghi, ATL Novara, the Tourist Agency of the Province of Varese, Verbania Town Council, the Administration of the Borromean Islands, Confcommercio, the Botanic Gardens of Villa Taranto, the Hoteliers’ Association of Novara and VCO provinces, the Lago Maggiore Holidays Consortium, Lago Maggiore Conference, the Association of Small Traditional Hotels and Mountain Hospitality, the Fiori Tipici del Lago Maggiore Consortium, the Comunità Montane del Verbano, delle Valli dell’Ossola e Due Laghi, Cusio Mottarone and Val Strona.
