The web portal www.lagomaggiore.ru is on line

The new tourism web portal designed for the Russian market, www.lagomaggiore.ru, has been on line since 21 July. Produced by the Chamber of Commerce of the Verbano Cusio Ossola province with the support of Netycom srl of Verbania, the portal publicises the range of tourist attractions on offer in the province to this promising new market.

The pages of the site have been expressly designed with Russian-speaking visitors in mind, and focus on the three main sectors of the tourist offer of the area – cultural holidays, active holidays, and conference and incentive holidays. The main menu gives access to the section “The Lake and its surroundings”, which describes the heritage of landscape, history and nature of the four major areas of Upper Lake Maggiore, the Borromean Gulf, Lake Orta, and the Ossola Valleys. The “Art and Culture” section gives detailed information on Museums and Exhibitions, Festivals and Performing Arts, Gardens and Villas. “Active holidays” are illustrated in the sections on Biking, Golf, Hiking, Water, Extreme Sports, Nature Parks and Reserves, and Wellness. The “Where to stay” menu lists all the accommodations in the province by category (campsites, hotels, B&B); bookings can be made on line in English as from now via www.illagomaggiore.com.

This new tool is complementary to www.illagomaggiore.com, an initiative of the Interreg project “Tourism without borders – localization portal”. The site is in Italian and English, with parallel versions in German and French, and has been managed by the Chamber of Commerce since 2004; over the last few months, the Chamber has worked with the major players in tourism in Piedmont, Lombardy and Switzerland to completely restyle the content and the graphics of the site, along with the online booking facility, which is completely free and guaranteed for clients and operators.

The next few months will see the implementation of a Russian language version of the online booking facility.
