About

The Lame Park of Sesia is crossed along its whole length (7.5 km) by the river Sesia.

The source of this water course, whose hydrographic basin has an expanse of 2,920 km2, is located on Monte Rosa at around 3,000 metres high. The Sesia is a river which is prone to sudden and violent floods, alternating with periods of low water. This type of behaviour has contributed to creating the environments which now characterise the protected area.

The Park is situated at a height above sea level ranging from 160 metres at the northern border to 135 metres at the southern border and is located at around two kilometres from the ancient river terraces, known locally as “baragge”.
