By car: A26 motorway to Gravellona Toce, then SS33 Sempione, exit for Domodossola and continue on along the road SS337 of Valle Vigezzo up to Croppo di Trontano where you take for Trontano.

General Description:   

Hiking trail at the doors of the National Park Valgrande along one of the Nature itineraries called “Lungo il filo di una traccia” by the Park, following the animal traces, to dicover the animal life in the forests of the Park.

The route:   

From outside the Vigezzina railway station of  Trontano take for via Tignolino. At the chapel at the crossroads with via Martinella turn left, pass an electrical station and take the mule track that will immediately cross Via Viscardi, where there is a beautiful brick colored stone house. Continue on the track where youwill go along the trail called “Sentiero Natura Trontano-Faievo” from the National Park Val Grande up to Alpe Faievo, equipped with informative panels. Go on the track until you cross the forest path crossing a beautiful beech trees area. You will go along the path for a short stretch then turn left and through an easy trail you will reach the mountain huts of Alpe Parpinasca and then the refuge owned by the National Park Valgrande. From the refuge take the flat track leading to the path and following it you will go down up to Alpe Faievo. Once you’ve reached the track, continue to the junction with the trail sign of the Sentiero Natura, nature trail. Turn right for the track that passes through the Alpe’s huts until you cross the itinerary you made uphill, near the chapel of the Madonna di Re, then is the way back to Trontano.

You can arrive at the refuge by MTB following the forest road starting from Trontano.
