By car: A26 motorway to Gravellona Toce, then SS33 Sempione, exit for Domodossola .

General Description:   

The itinerary develops on nice mule tracks across the old rural villages of Domodossola around the Sacro Monte Calvario (Unesco World Heritage)

The route:   

From Domodossola station go on corso P. Ferraris, via F.lli di Dio and via Garibaldi and, once you cross via G.G.Galletti take for via Rosmini then via Mattarella in direction of the Sacro Monte Calvario (UNESCO World Heritage). Go up on the Via Crucis and once you have at your back the third chapel is the start of the track leading to the top of the Sacro Monte Calvario. From here take the track leading to San Defendente, then continue for Vallesone, with its furnace and old winepress. At the junction for Alpe Lusentino turn right for Motto and then continue for Andosso and Prata, then go down to Maggianigo, chieftown of the old town of Vagna, autonomous until 1928 which brought together all these villages. Continue in direction of the cemetery and the chapel of the “posa dei morti” to reach the locality il Motto from where deviating on the left you will go down to Premone and then again to the Sacro Monte Calvario. Following the road of the way forward you will go back to Domodossola station, remembering to visit the old town center.
