“Le Follie dell’Imperatore” in Maccagno

Every year the town of Maccagno re-lives the historical landing by the Emperor Ottone I, which happened in 962, with a traditional event which takes place on the shores of Lake Maggiore. This year the event is on Saturday 7th August 2010, with a whole day of spectacular celebrations in period costume.

The opening of the event will be at 3 pm along the lakeside of Maccagno Superiore, with stalls, markets and works of art by Gionata Ranzoni and Max Brain. At 7 pm there will be the Emperor’s landing in Maccagno Inferiore, followed by an Imperial procession. At 7.30 pm the stands will start to offer people their products to taste, accompanied by live music. From 8 pm risotto will be given out, followed by a firework display and live music, from 11 o’clock on.
