NewsLake Maggiore Half Marathon: the route!
Here it is at last: the route of the Lake Maggiore Half Marathon, which takes place on 9th March, has finally been revealed. The starting line, as previously announced, will be in Stresa, near the embarcadero where the athletes will arrive, by boat.From the very start the route will be characterised, on the left, by beautiful trees that have become a part of Lake Maggiore's history, and on the right by the spectacular view of Lake Maggiore and all three Borromeo islands.
The route then heads off for Baveno, on the SS33 main road which hugs the lake. Here, in this lovely lake town, at the 5th km, the first change in the relay half marathon will take place. After Feriolo di Baveno, having reached eight km the route will move away from the main road and into the Technoparco the second change of the baton will occur at the 10th km. Before the 14th km, at this point in the Verbania territory, the route will return to the lakefront and, in Suna, at the 15th km, the third and final exchange of the baton will take place.Here, participants will begin to feel the strain of the race but the beauty of Suna's lakefront will undoubtedly take their minds of it. Arrival in Pallanza will be the first sign that the end is drawing near: the rcers will take a left here towards the town centre and head towards Corso Europa, through Viale Azari. From here on, at around the 18th km, the final sprint will begin, favoured by the fact that it the route here is slightly downhill: the runners will go around Villa Taranto, back onto the lakefront, among the prestigious villas and panoramic views this time the Borromeo Gulf and its characteristic islands will be on their left.The arrival is at the Town Hall in Piazza Garibaldi on the Verbania Pallanza lakefront, bringing an end to the hard work and signalling the start of the pasta party.
