NewsIn Ossola Valley Montagna e dintorni 2007
The alps are the absolute protagonists in the third edition of Montagna & dintorni (mountains and their surroundings), the festival that celebrates the mountains of Verbano Cusio Ossola and will animate the heart of Val d'Ossola with a rich calendar of events including encounters, film viewing, debates, flavours and ideas.
In Vogogna, the small medieval hamlet dominated by the Alps, the 2007 edition of this festival in and about the Alps gets underway. 17 events in 17 days to meet men and mountains of the world but also to carefully observe the Alpine world, its rules and its developments. As in previous editions the best films from the Trento Film Festival will be viewed with nine shows over three evenings (Friday 9th, Friday 16th and Friday 23rd November 2007) which will be accompanied by chance to taste some of the flavours that the Ossola territory has to offer.
The frontiers of Alpine Mountaineering and arduous climbs up the Himalayan rocks will be the themes confronted over three dates with protagonists of the mountains such as Fabrizio Manoni in Bivacco sull'Everest (Sunday 11th November), Fabio Iacchini and Giorgio Sacco in Broad Peak, La scalata di un gigante himalayano (climbing a Himalayan giant) and Seven Summit Cristina Piolini's project to scale the seven highest mountains on Earth.
Three photographic displays offering suggestive images of this world will illustrate the mountains from various viewpoints such as the display Un solco profondo di luce e ombra by photographer Luca Chessa, the display I colori dei Walser and Silenzio parla la Toce, a display on the river that has Ossola's history running through it.
