NewsSculptors at Villa Recalcati
From 26th June to 29th August 2010 the wonderful Villa Recalcati, a 18th century noble dwelling and the seat of the Province of Varese, hosts a personal exhibition by Giò Pomodoro, one of the most important international abstract sculptors of the 20th century, died in Milan in 2002.
Pomodoro’s works of art, which are in the private and public collections all over the word, are being exposed in Varese inaugurating the ambitious three-yearly project called “Scultori a Villa Recalcati” (Sculptors at Villa Recalcati), a very important artistic and cultural initiative.
The exhibition presents a collection of sculptures by Giò Pomodoro from his early years to his artistic maturity: Coesistenza III (1958), Grande Ghibellina ( 1965), Colloquio col figlio ( 1975), Sole Deposto (1982) and many others.
After Giò Pomodoro’s personal exhibition there will be others: the first one by Giancarlo Sangregorio, from 11th September to 14th November, another one by Vittorio Tavernari and Carlo Zauli, in 2011, and the last one by Nino Cassani, in 2012.
The official inauguration of this extraordinary event takes place at Villa Recalcati on Saturday 26th June at 6.30 pm, followed by cocktails at 8 o’clock. After that, at 9 pm, Coro Orchestra Ars Cantus performs, conduced by Giovanni Tenti.
