Novara hills
The wines of the Colline Novaresi DOC (“DOC” means “ produced in a specific, well-defined region”) are Piedmontese wines produced in the Novara Hills area. There is a grand total of 7 DOC wines which belong to the wine heritage of Novara.
Colline Novaresi Barbera: dry in flavour, sometimes vivace or slightly sparkling, ruby red; goes well with ham and salami, roasts and boiled meat;
Colline Novaresi Bonarda: ruby red, with a lively, harmonious flavour. Drink it with ham and salami, pasta dishes and cheese;
Colline Novaresi Croatina: garnet red, dry flavour. Good with ham and salami, roasts, mature cheese;
Colline Novaresi Rosso: usually has a deep red colour and a dry flavour. Recommended with ham and salami, roasts and boiled meat;
Colline Novaresi Spanna: usually has a deep red colour and a harmonious flavour. Good with roasts and mature cheese;
Colline Novaresi Vespolina: red, with a dry flavour. Drink it with game, and mature or sharp cheese;
Colline Novaresi Bianco: straw yellow colour; the taste has a hint of bitter almonds; fragrant. Goes well with starters, fish and frogs. The only white DOC of the Colline Novaresi.
