Grape Festival

The Borgomanero Grape Festival has been running for over half a century, and testifies to the ties of affection the local people have for their land.

Held every year in the first two weeks of September, it represents the highlight of the grape harvest, and takes place in a carnival atmosphere. In fact, since 1936 there has been a competition of allegorical floats illustrating themes connected with the grape harvest, but also topics of popular interest, especially political satire and the economy.

The Festival was interrupted in 1939, to start again 1952, seven years after the end of the Second World War, with a series of major new events which have continued up to the present, involving music, sport, art and the “Grand Parade” of the final Sunday.

Every year sees something new to accompany the traditional festivities, with special events characterising each edition, such as shows of the best products of local industry, crafts and commerce, or evening parades of the floats.
