EventNew Landscapes
12 December 2009 - 23 January 2010verbania
The gallery reopens on Saturday the 12th of December with a group show loosely based around the theme "New Landscapes".
Gallery artists who have exhibited recently will be featuring alongside a couple of particularly interesting new artists. Corrado Bove returns with a pair of his metal mesh sculptures, one on show in the gallery for the first time. Michele Costantini, the first of the newcomers, makes his Lakeside debut with atmospheric acrylic and watercolour landscapes created on the Lombard shore of Lake Maggiore.
Antonio Cotroneo is showing the latest of his magnificent large canvases revealing an "internal cartography, almost a map of abstract places". Paolo De Piccoli's intimate figures in terracotta stretch the boundaries of the exhibition theme to take in discussion of human presence within the landscape. Horiki Katsutomi will be familiar to the lakeside public following his solo show this summer and returns with a series of works featuring his trademark glowing colour fields.
Emanuela Mezzadri's assemblages take elements from the natural and human landscape to create poetic works dealing with the persistence of memory. Mauro Uccelli was the first artist to exhibit at Lakeside and is back with two of his ever-popular landscapes, the larger painted specially for this show. The second newcomer is the photographer Fulvio Ventura, one of the greatest contemporary Italian landscape photographers with works in private and museum collections.
