On Sunday 20 December 2009 a great date with tradition, the Customs and habits of the past in the lands of Baveno and Lake Maggiore will take place. For a whole day this event will enable us to relive the atmosphere of past centuries with Un salto nel passato - A jump in the past.

During the day on Sunday 20th December, the entire town of Baveno will be return to its former self: along the main streets, lit by simple torches, characters in costume and rebuilt settings will show us life in past times. Walking through Baveno you can relive the simple and lively atmosphere of the past while the carpenter expertly works on a tree trunk, the knife-sharpener sharpens knives with his tools, the weaver spins wool with his looms, the shepherd brings his flocks to graze and the blacksmith works metals.

Each setting, just like each garment worn by the characters, has been recreated with historical accuracy without neglecting detail in order to make this jump into the past even more real.Taste will also play its part with many "Inns" open proposing simple and tasty, dishes n accordance with the traditions of the past. To make this event yet more suggestive you can shop with special coins minted for the occasion. For lovers of tradition and craft products you can buy many products on the stalls set up for the occasion and choose between fabrics, jewels, wood, stone and ceramic craft products.
