NewsMultimedia festival BergBuchBrig 2009
For the fourth time the Multimediafestival BergBuchBrig (the multi-media mountain book festival in Briga) will take place in Briga nel Vallese (Switzerland). The nucleus of this festival is the international book display Montagnalibri of the Trentofilmfestival, which annually presents over 1,300 recently published books from 30 countries. In addition to this more than 50 hours of conferences, debates, films and photo projections will also be on the agenda.
Thanks to partnership with the LetterAltura Lago Maggiore Festival, within the Interreg LIT.ALPS project, a part of the BergBuchBrig will be dedicated to the Italian language: on Friday 6th November at 6pm Marco Albino Ferrari will present an overview of Italian literature about Cervino. Following this, actor Franziskus Abgottspon will read extracts from the report regarding the first ascent of mountaineer Edward Whymper in English and German.
A number of films in Italian which caused a stir at the Trentofilmfestival 2009 will also be shown at BergBuchBrig:
Wednesday 4th November at 5.20pm: Ottobre in Mongolia: Short filmMario Nardin, Italy, 2008, 20', in Italian: before the start of winter the farmers round up their yaks and send off the hunting eagles. uncertainty and hope.
Thursday 5th November at 10pm: Cheyenne, trent'anni: Documentary Michele Trentini, Italy 2008, 55', in Italian with subtitles in English: a young Bavarian woman looks after her sheep in the solitary Val di Rabbi in Trentino. A silent, penetratin portrait.
Friday 6th November at 3pm: I giganti tra le nuvole: Mountain documentaryRoberto Soramae', Italy 2008, 22', in Italian: memoirs of the first winter ascent of the walls north of Agner, the highest peak of the Dolomites, with Reinhold Messner among others. Il Carnevale di San Plonia: Documentary Angelo Apolloni, Italy 2008, 38', in Italian: lively carnival activity in a small mountain village with fantastic masks and a grotesque theatre show as its climax.
