Flavours and ancient traditions in the Verbano Cusio Ossola territory, a land which has managed to maintain its wealth of delicacies over the centuries. An array of products from the lake and mountains belong to this vast territory and will be on offer at the various festivals and fairs in the area to guarantee that the taste of tradition continues to tickle taste buds. Chestnuts, apples, mushrooms, pumpkins and juicy grapes from Ossola's vineyards will all play a leading role in festivals and shows.

In October, throughout the territory, there will be roasted chestnut days where a bag of warm chestnuts will go nicely hand in hand with a glass of mulled wine, for example on 11th October 2009 in Gignese (for info 0323 20787), in Pettenasco (for info 0323 89115) or on the peak of Mottarone with a splendid view of Lake Maggiore. If that's not enough, you can always go to Piedimulera for the 3-day Chestnut fair from 16th to 18th October.

Apples will of course be the sole protagonists of the event Mele in piazza scheduled in Omegna between 17th and 18th October with the exhibition and sale of sweets and delicacies made with apples (for info 393 7778539). On Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th October in Santa Maria Maggiore, however, the food event Fuori di zucca will take place offering two days of tasting pumpkin based products with the chance to buy them too.
