NewsEditoria e Giardini 2009 in Verbania
At 10.30am on Saturday 19th September the gates to the gardens and building of 19th Century Villa Giulia will open for the ninth edition of the review Editoria &| Giardini [Publishing and Gardens], the annual event on Lake Maggiore which brings garden lovers together offering them the best of specialist publishing and theme based encounters.
The highlight of the Review is the Salone del libro sul giardino [Garden Book Show], held in Villa Giulia, offering over 3,000 titles which present the garden focusing on a variety of themes: architecture, botany, photography, art, technique, literature, history, philosophy and children's books.
A series of events will accompany the Show offering moments of elaboration, training and entertainment on subjects related to the garden: conventions, displays, presentations, editorials, gardening classes, workshops for adults and children, guided tours and recitals. This year's new edition is the market display Le piante di Editoria e Giardini which will reunite the nurserymen who have enlightened visitors during gardening lessons at previous editions.
This year's theme, Botanical passion, Travellers, collectors, plant hunters, is strongly linked to the gardening history of the territory, first developed in the 1500s thanks to the creation of the Gardens on the Borromeo Islands and later, in the 1900s with the diffusion of Villas with Gardens. These factors brought about the birth of the nursery and specialised horticultural establishments.
The review itself begins on Saturday 19th September and will end on Sunday 27th September. The complete programme showing all of the events on offer is can be seen by clicking on the link below: http://www.editoriaegiardini.it/programma.htm
