Like every year, the event with flowers, colours and fun returns to the shores of Lake Maggiore in the form of the characteristic Verbania Corso Fiorito. On Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th September 2009 flowers will be the sole protagonists in this traditional floral parade of masks and floats along the streets of Verbania which has now reached its 35th edition.

The parade first began in 1909 as a showcase for gardeners and the beauty of the lake's flowers, with the carriages of noble families , bicycles and early automobiles acting as the floats. Now more than ever, this floral battle is a wonderful event in which flower arranging has reached such extreme levels that it can be considered entertainment. Bystanders will be treated to the sight of parade floats adorned with thousands of flowers, compositions, statues and clothes made of flowers inspired by the talent and fantasy of local flower arrangers.

Once again Corso Fiorito will also offer the charming Infiorata in Piazza Pedroni, the reproduction of a work of art using thousands of flower petals. The artists will create their works on Saturday and visitors can admire them throughout the day on Sunday 6th September 2009.

The whole lakefront will turn into a huge stage offering collateral events. Concerts and dances will of course take place in the square (Piazza Pedroni and Garibaldi- Pallanza Lakefront), a food and wine market will offer produce from Piedmont and the Riviera dei Fiori, musical performances will take place and to close the event, in the evening on Sunday 6th September, a Great fireworks display will be held on the lake.

Sticking to the theme of flowers, don't forget that the renowned market display Orchids on the Lake will be held in 19th Century Villa Giulia between 4th and 6th September.
