100 hibiscuses in bloom on Isola Madre

The sight of over one hundred varieties of hibiscus in bloom is without doubt an absolute must between July and the end of September on Isola Madre, one of the three islands of the Borromeo Gulf.

Renowned throughout the world for the beauty and rarity of the flowers and plants found in its botanical garden, summer on Isola Madre will be coloured by the light and delicate tones of these exotic flowers which have been cultivated on the island since the 19th century.

The hundred of so varieties of Hibiscus rosa sinensis, acclimatised and cultivated over the years by the islands skilled gardeners, grace the island with colours that send the terraces of the Borromeo Islands to far away lands.

As well as admiring, visitors can also take photos of these wonders. As everybody knows by now, this year visitors can take picture of the flowers in bloom and, if they wish, can send them to the Isole Borromeo and Rocca di Angera website where the best photos will be published online with the name of their creator and the date on which it was taken.
