NewsLetterAltura pays a visit to Quarne
Following the Verbania events from 24th to 28th June, LetterAltura heads to the valleys to further enhance its bond with the mountains. Le Quarne will be the location on 4th and 5th July a natural balcony overlooking the Lake Orta basin, Quarna Sopra and Quarna Sotto will be the stage for numerous events in programme at the Festival. Uncontaminated nature, tradition and music are the elements that make up this area, known to many thanks to its town feast day, for the many walks through the woods and plains as well as its ancient tradition of musical instrument production.
These various elements blend nicely with the numerous Festival events, which start in the afternoon on Saturday 4th July (from 4.30pm to 5.30pm) at the San Rocco di Quarna Sopra Oratory where the artist-storyteller Prezzemolo will perform a show for children and adults with sayings, proverbs and traditional popular mountain stories.
From 9pm on Saturday, at the Auditorium of the Instruments Museum in Quarna Sotto Paolo Brovelli will talk to Renato Scialpi at the encounter Quando il geografo-viaggiatore arriva ai confini del mondo [when the geographer-traveller reaches the ends of the earth].
On Sunday 5th July 2009 two musts are the guided tour entitled Il sentiero della musica the music path (meeting at the Cireggio Church at 9.45am, for info and bookings call 346 8589722) and at 2pm the wandering show performed by the Occitan group Fifres et Tambours de Provenco which will head to Quarna Sopra from Quarna Sotto.
