News"Libri in cammino": Literary excursions in Val Grande
Walking in Val Grande's nature in order to get to know it better, listening to words, thoughts and tales: this is what the Libri in cammino, now in its fourth year, is all about.From 6th June to 27th September 2009, in the largest wild area that the Alps have to offer, 7 events with authors, journalists and guides, as well as publishing initiatives, will focus on the theme of the mountain. From cheese production to Alpine valleys, from mining and extracting to reflections and research on culture and landscape within the Alpine region.Here are the scheduled events:-6th June (Colloro - Capraga), with the book Paesaggio culturale oppure Wilderness nelle Alpi by Susanne Lehringer, Franz Hochtl e Werner Konold, published by Provincia del Verbano Cusio Ossola.-5th July (Cicogna-Alpe Pra), with the book Alpeggi alpigiani formaggi dal Mottarone alla Formazza by Daniele Barbaglia, Renato Cresta, Claudio Monti, Alberti Libraio publishing.-10th July (Candoglia, Cava del Duomo di Milano), with the book Candoglia. Polvere di marmo by Gabriele Reina, Edizioni Omega publishing.-25th July (Valle del Basso - Rifugio Al Cedo), with the book Pascoli sotto il cielo by Benito Mazzi, Macchione publishing.-13th August (Alpe Pala - Piancavallone), with the book Der Nationalpark des Val Grande: Wilde berglandschaft am Lago Maggiore by Rolf Platen, Wiedemann publishing.-11th September (Candoglia, Cava del Duomo di Milano), with the book Candoglia. Polvere di marmo by Gabriele Reina, Edizioni Omega publishing.-27th September (Trontano - Verigo), with the book Dal Santuario al territorio. Segni e percorsi di devozione alla Madonna di Re published by Parco Nazionale Val Grande.
The event is organised and promoted in collaboration with LetterAltura, festival of Mountain Literature, Travel and Adventure. And with the support of Alberti Libraio Editore, Macchione Editore, Omega editore, Wiedemann editore, Provincia del Verbano Cusio Ossola, Club Alpino Italiano sezione. Est Monterosa.
How to take part: To take part in the Libri in Cammino excursions, booking is required, at least five days in advance, either by telephone or email. Participation is free for small children and under 18s accompanied by an adult. In the case of bad weather the itineraries may be subject to variations at the guide's discretion. The meetings with the authors will, however, take place in existing sites at the scheduled meeting point. Those present will have the opportunity to buy the book in question with a 20% discount.
