Last year over 10,000 visitors came: these are the ever increasing statistics that highlight the success of Fabbrica della Carta, the book review involving authors and publishers from Verbano Cusio Ossola.

This cultural event will take place between 23rd April and 3rd May 2009 at the Fabbrica Cultural Centre in Villadossola. In the heart of Ossola writers, book shop proprietors and bookworms themselves will come together to look at the latest works, projects and initiatives local publishers have produced, with an eye on regional and national works too.

The event is the result of teamwork involving Provincial Administration and local publishers from within the territory as well as the Villadossola Council. The main aim of the event is to promote and support the immense heritage of local published works, thanks to local editors, public associations, church parishes, libraries, cultural associations, the Pro Loco organisation, foundations, academic institutes and local writers and poets.

Every year The book Expo in Villadossola dedicates a part of its programme to a theme, creating a type of investigative monographic journey. In 1998, for example children's publishing was the subject, whereas Swiss publishing was in the spotlight in 2000. In last year's edition the theme was the Architecture of our territory, from Walser to present day, focusing on sustainability. The XII edition of La Fabbrica di Carta will focus on artisan crafts, a theme that will be confronted in collaboration with Confartigianato and CNA. Encounters dedicated to artisan development in the territory have been scheduled, with particular reference to the use of local available raw materials, such as wood and stone.
