NewsTraccia bianca 2009: in Devero with snow shoes
The fifth edition of Traccia Bianca (White Tracks), the snow shoe race organised by the Pallanza CAI section in the wonderful setting of Piana di Devero, one of the most fascinating locations in the Alps. This is a highly awaited sporting event which annually attracts an ever increasing number of participants and spectators, and which is scheduled for Sunday 1st March 2009 at 10.30 am leaving from Piana di Devero.
Now a fixed event in the Ossola winter events calendar, this race, which attracted over 1,000 sports lovers in 2008, is in fact the final trial of the Coppa Italia (Italy Cup). The route is identical to last year's snow shoe walk with an eight kilometre itinerary starting and finishing at Piana di Devero and through Crampiolo. The most rewarding part of the race is crossing the frozen Devero Lake, offering participants arctic style emotions.
The awards ceremony will take place at the finish point at 1pm for the first 3 men and first 3 women in the competition, the first 10 non competing men and 10 women as well as group awards. In addition, all participants will have their names entered for the raffle with a week of trekking for two in Morocco to be won.
The event, open to all, will take place regardless of weather conditions. Enrolments will be accepted after 15th February 2009 and forms are available on the CAI Pallanza website
