NewsOn the peaks of the Val Grande National Park
In its eight-year history, the table calendar Sulle cime del Parco Nazionale Val Grande has offered various views of the protected area, from suggestive nocturnal scenes of infinite space to the universe, unaware of its scrutiny under the lens.
Today the park calendar has become a highly requested reference point for those wishing to take a look at the most fascinating and curious aspects of Val Grande. Presented on 19th December 2008, the 2009 calendar has an image of a mountain peak of the park on the front and a panorama on the back taken from the same peak, as well as a short text based on the mountains, from their birth to man's colonisation from mapping to literature and the mountain's influence on the human soul. In addition there are some reflections on climate change and the Alpine Eco-system, and information on the scientific research promoted by the Park Association over the last 15 years.
The new pages of the calendar are, therefore, a dense collage of images and topics offering a chance to reflect on the fundamental role of the parks with regards to territorial management and environmental education. 5 pages, 12 peaks, 12 topics, 28 images and 10,00 copies that will be placed on thousands of houses and office tables around the province and throughout Italy because, as John Ruskin wrote in 1859 on the beauty of the mountains. The mountains are the beginning and end of all natural landscape. The peaks of Val Grande can, as Alberto Actis says, be reached and rediscovered to help us understand the value of things and to help us reach our daily objectives. The calendar will be distributed free of charge at the Vogogna Park centre (open during office hours) and at the Acquamondo museum in Cossogno (open during the Festive Season).
